We live in a different world today. Ethnic diversity is apparent in almost every American town and city. Women have entered the workplace in droves and people with disabilities have more access to the workplace than ever. Every person comes with a unique individual culture. While, to many, this makes our world more interesting, it can also be more challenging. Understanding each other in order to make decisions and solve problems is more complex and more crucial. Given that we seem to have less time to make decisions and solve problems, it is important that we have a conscious understanding of cultural competence and an increased skill level in negotiation. This workshop explored cultural perspectives and how they effect the ability to negotiate for mutually acceptable resolutions.
