Peggy Cvach has been involved in special education throughout her career. Much of her experience is in early intervention. She began by teaching early intervention in Rapid City, South Dakota, and Sioux City, Iowa. At the University of South Dakota she was employed in parent training and surrogate parenting grants under IDEA. Upon receiving her doctorate, she joined Mountain Plains Regional Resource Center, located at Drake University in Iowa. There she worked in parent training and training of trainers, eventually becoming Part C (of IDEA) coordinator for the state of Iowa. After moving to Washington, D.C., in the late 1980s with her family, she did research on learning disabilities. Cvach joined OSEP in 1989 as a Part C project officer. Currently, she is OSEP’s link to the National Early Childhood Technical Assistance Center (NECTAC); the National Dissemination Center for Children with Disabilities (NICHCY); CADRE and other Technical Assistance projects. She also administers early childhood research, technology and transition grants, as well as Parent Centers for Nebraska, Iowa, and Colorado.
