Beyond Mediation: The Second National Symposium on Dispute Resolution in Special Education

Purpose

To provide quality learning experiences and networking opportunities related to innovative dispute resolution strategies for children who receive early intervention and special education services.

Outcome Strands

  1. Participants will receive information on how to improve practices across the full dispute resolution continuum including pre-dispute and conflict prevention processes

  2. Participants will acquire critical skills and knowledge related to culturally versatile dispute resolution practices

  3. Participants will acquire advanced conflict management skills and have a better understanding of the roles and competencies related to agreement reaching

  4. Participants will understand how to use data to improve practices and results and receive information on recent research in the field of special education dispute resolution

  5. Networks of state and local dispute resolution coordinators, practitioners, educators and families will be strengthened
